The Darkness Holds No Power

Over the years, I have spoken about the power of light and how it overcomes darkness. We have also defined cold not in terms of cold, because it then simply defines itself but rather as the lack of energy to produce heat or simply, the absence of heat. There is a point where cold is absolute, where all energy is absent, but we have not discovered the maximum threshold for heat.

Darkness is the same idea. It cannot be described as dark but rather it is defined as the absence of light. There is a point where there is absolute darkness, that is the total absence of light energy, but there is no defined maximum limit for light.
In John 8:12, Jesus spoke to them saying I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life.

There is so much to be said about this single passage. Light, however small, can cut through the darkness like a knife. Even a small ember can take absolute darkness and change its definition. Darkness cannot exist in the presence of light, it can only exists in the complete absence of light. Jesus is the light of the world and in Him is the light of life. Darkness cannot exist in His presence and in that we can rest easy knowing that the promise made in Revelation will be fulfilled. In the end evil is banished forever because the Light of the world rules.

This Sunday we dig in deeper to this. I hope you can join us in person or online at www.mainavefellowship.blogspot.ca

Blessings
