The Sounds Of New Life

What a season this is! New calves, colts and lambs in the fields, new growth in the lawns, the smell of fresh cut grass and the warmth of the sun warming the earth. Last Sunday, as Natalie was preaching, I had the rare opportunity to sit and take in the service from the sound booth at the back of the church. It was truly a joy to hear the wisdom of the Lord spoken and also to hear the sounds of my church family. Every church has a particular sound and ours is no different. There were whispered side conversations all around me, giggles in response to clever quips but the sound that caught my ear was that of a Grandmother enjoy her interaction with her precious charge. I smiled the whole service.

There is another wonderful sound and that is the joy of hearing the celebration of someone who has just come to know Christ as Saviour. There is also witnessing the joy in their eyes and the transformation in their heart as the Holy Spirit fills their heart. There is something about those first moments that is very similar to a new born testing its legs for the first time. For some, the first steps are rather tentative and they reach out for support and encouragement while for others, as soon as the legs are under them, they are racing forward in full stride.

In Ephesians 2, Paul talks of a life filled with darkness and sin and even though we walked in darkness, fumbling around in the night, the Father has always been there. We have all had the opportunity for a new life (v5) and for many, we have accepted Christ into our lives and were raised out of the mire and now walk, or run, anew in the Spirit (v6).

This Sunday, we will explore Paul’s letter to the Ephesians and celebrate a life with Christ. Sunday service live online (https://www.facebook.com/todd.macdonald.3158) starts at 10:30 am MST. We invite you to interact with us as we stream live and join us as we celebrate.

Shalom
Pastor Todd
