Peter's Picks

The Perfect 7-day Diet – Peter’s Picks

‘Overcoming...’

Day 1: Psalm 34:5-8 - FEAR – “Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces. In my desperation I prayed, and the  Lord listened; he saved me from all my troubles. For the angel of the Lord is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him. Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!”

Day 2: Psalm 37:7, 8 - ANGER – “Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes. Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper – it only leads to harm.”

Day 3: 1 Peter 5:6, 7 - DEPRESSION – “So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”

Day 4: James 4:13-17 - PRIDE – “Look here, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.’ How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog – it's here a little while, then it’s gone. What you ought to say is, ’If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.’ Otherwise you are boasting about your own pretentious plans, and all such boasting is evil. Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.”

Day 5: Proverbs 23:17, 18 - JEALOUSY – “Don’t envy sinners, but always continue to fear the Lord. You will be rewarded for this; your hope will not be disappointed.”

Day 6: Galatians 6:9, 10 - WEARINESS – “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone – especially to those in the family of faith.”

Day 7: 1 John 5:3-5 - LIFE – “Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome. For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.”
