I came back
from holidays this past Sunday and was looking forward to jumping right back
into the fray , to start moving forward in His plan for my life, for our lives.
On my desk to greet me was a flashlight, some chocolate and a scripture
message.
“Let your light shine before your
family and men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who
is in Heaven!” Matt 5:16
It took a
mere ten days for Natalie and I to cast off the burdens of our daily responsibilities
and find a newness in the joys of what God provides for us daily. The beauty
that surrounds us is always there for the taking but it can be dulled or even
blotted out when the Light of the world is hidden by the veil of busyness and
distractions. We did not attend one single church service while we were in
Ireland but we did take in the wonder of His creation and gave thanks for the
beauty He provided. There was something else that came with that peace and serenity;
there was a feeling of calm and joy.
Truth be
told, this was not an immediate action but rather a process. There were times
when my feet were sore from all the walking, my back hurt from navigating the
many hills or I just got tired and I began to sink into that place of darkness.
Just about that time, we took a rest, sat down for a tea and scones or just
relaxed and watched the world rush onwards. There are times when God says, “take
a break, rest and let me renew you”. Modern culture says, “power through it and
get ‘er done” but I say when the challenges of life start to dim your light,
take time out for Jesus and let Him renew your spirit, your strength and your
mind so that you can shine brightly. The slide into the depths of doom and
darkness does not need to be an eternal ride, take time out to renew and be
healed. The great tempter likes to keep our eyes on earthly prizes so that we
cannot see the heavenly rewards that await those who lean on the Lord for their
strength.
This Sunday, we will be back live on Facebook live as the computer issue
has been rectified. We invite you to join us if you can at 10:30 MST on
Sunday or you can watch us live online on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/MainAvenueFellowship/)
or view it afterwards on our website (www.mainavefellowship.blogspot.ca).
Blessings
