I am watching the news and the think I notice the most is,
in all the graphics, as the virus that has the world on edge infiltrates a
county or area, the light background goes dark, usually a blood red. The bar
graphs are similar in choice of colouring but there is another item of note,
the recovery rates on most bar graphs I have seen is a brilliant blue. As the
world begins to wrestle with the darkness of disease and despair, there is
hope, a light on the other side of the conflict. We have shut down all events
in the church to minimize the chance of spreading the virus. I was rather
worried about not gathering with the faith family in the church but then I
remembered that we believe the church is the family of faith and not the
building. We have strong relationships and have built the foundation of our
gathering on personal relationship rather than on bricks and mortar. The
building is temporary but the relationship we have with each other and with our
Lord and Saviour is eternal. The virus eventually will be eliminated and the
light will prevail, focus on the Light.
“You
are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither
do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its
stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your
light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and
glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV)
Do not let the fact that your church has to close to help
others, rather take joy knowing that there are other alternatives available to
you and your faith family to pour into the lives of those in your community. We
are a family of our Father in Heaven. To build relationship, we must learn to
communicate and in order to do that, we need to commit to prayer. Family of
faith, take time often each day to pray for family, friends and our nations.
Pray for your leaders whether you voted for them or not. Don’t hold back, pray
often and with all your being. Be the light of the community especially in
times when the darkness starts to invade. Daniel prayed with his doors wide
open which was very dangerous because others were able to see him defy the
orders of the king. In the end, however, the light of the Lord shone through
and many saw the love in that relationship. Let the light shine out, be His
representative in these times of need.
