The Perfect 7-day Diet –
Peter’s Picks
‘Brokenness’
Day 1: Isaiah 57:15 – “The high and lofty one
who lives in eternity, the Holy One, says this: ‘I live in the high and holy
place with those whose spirits are contrite and humble. I restore the crushed
spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts.’”
Day 2: Psalm 51:16, 17 – “You do not desire a sacrifice, or I would
offer one. You do not want a burnt offering. The sacrifice you desire is a
broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God."
Day 3: 2 Corinthians 3:4-6 – “We are confident of all this because of our great
trust in God through Christ. It is not that we think we are qualified to do
anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God. He has enabled us to be
ministers of his new covenant. This is a covenant not of written laws, but of
the Spirit. The old written covenant ends in death; but under the new covenant,
the Spirit gives life.”
Day 4: 1 Hosea 10:12 – “I said, ‘Plant the good seeds of righteousness,
and you will harvest a crop of love. Plow up the hard ground of your hearts,
for now is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and shower righteousness
upon you.’”
Day 5: 2 Corinthians 12:9, 10 – “Each time he said, ‘My grace is all you need.
My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my
weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take
pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and
troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
Day 6: Isaiah 66:2 – “My hands have made both heaven and earth; they and
everything in them are mine. I, the Lord, have spoken! ‘I will bless those who
have humble and contrite hearts, who tremble at my word.’"
Day 7: Joel 2:13 – “’Don’t tear your
clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead.’ Return to the Lord your
God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with
unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish.”
