The Perfect 7-day Diet – Peter’s Picks
‘Why Pray?’
Day
1: 2 Chronicles 7:14, 15 – “Then if my people who are called by my
name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their
wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore
their land. My eyes will be open and my ears attentive to every prayer made in
this place.”
Day 2: Hebrews
11:6
– “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come
to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely
seek him.”
Day
3: Psalms 116:1, 2 – “I love the Lord because he
hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. Because he bends down to listen, I will
pray as long as I have breath!”
Day 4: Colossians
4:2
– “Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.”
Day 5: James 5:13-16 – “Are
any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You
should sing praises. Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the
church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the
Lord. Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make
you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven. Confess
your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The
earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful
results.”
Day
6: Philippians 4:6, 7 – “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray
about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then
you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His
peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
Day 7: 1
Timothy 2:1-4 – “I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask
God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray
this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful
and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God
our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.”
